Sparring

 

3 Step Sparring ( 8 – 10 )

 

3 step sparring is designed for the beginner to learn the basic Tae Kwon-Do techniques. It teaches the student many things. Proper distance, correct facing, forearm conditioning, correct blocks, correct stances, counter attacks and timing.

The Attacker always starts in Left Walking Stance, Low Section Outer Forearm Block. Steps Forward in Walking Stance Middle Section Obverse Punch x 3. The Defender always starts in Parallel Ready Stance.

 

8 Right Leg Back, L Stance Middle Section Knife Hand Block x 2.
Counter – Slide back at a 45˚ Angle into a Right L Stance Forearm Guarding Block, Execute a Right Side Kick Landing in Left L Stance Right Knife Hand Strike to Opponents Neck.

 

9 Right Leg Back, L Stance Middle Section Inwards Palm Pushing Block x 3.
Counter – Slide back at a 45˚ to the Outside of Opponent into a Right L Stance Forearm Guarding Block, Execute a Right Turning Kick to Opponents Solar Plexus, Put the Kicking Leg Down Behind the Opponents front Leg Draw the Left Leg towards the Right Leg Forming Vertical Stance, Execute a Right Knife Hand Strike to the Back of Opponents Neck.

 

10 Right Leg Back, L Stance Middle Section Knife Hand Block x 2.
Counter – Slide back at a 45˚ Angle into a Right L Stance Knife Hand Guarding Block, Execute a Right Reverse Side Kick Landing in Right Walking Stance Left Reverse Knife Hand Strike to the Side of Opponents Neck.

 

3 Step Semi Free Sparring (Basic)

 

3 step semi free sparring is designed as an intermediate step between set sparring and free sparring. It involves three consecutive attacks and three blocks or evasions, plus a counter attack. 3 step semi free sparring should not be rushed, the secret is reaction force and quick, intelligent movements. This is where the true art of sparring is learnt.

The Attacker always starts in Right L Stance, Middle Section Forearm Guarding Block.
The Defender always starts in Parallel Ready Stance.

 

Basic

 

Attack – Front Kick, Side Kick, Turning Kick. Kicking with the Rear Leg First, Alternating Legs.
Defence – Any Block Suitable for Each Individual Kick.
Counter – Reverse Punch.
