Sparring

 

2 Step Sparring ( 1 – 4 )

 

2 step sparring is designed for the intermediate student to learn more advanced techniques, also using the same timing and distance as in three step sparring, but with more varied attacked, allowing the student to develop various combinations.

The Attacker always starts in Right L Stance, Forearm Guarding Block.
The Defender always starts in Parallel Ready Stance.

 

1 Attack – Right Walking Stance Obverse Punch, Left Low Front Snap Kick.
Defence – Left Leg Back, Walking Stance Rising Block, Right Leg Back, Walking Stance X Fist Pressing Block.
Counter – Slide Forwards in Walking Stance Twin Vertical Punch to the Opponents Face.

 

2 Attack – Right Side Punch in Fixed Stance, Left Middle Section Turning Kick.
Defence – Right Leg Back, L Stance Upward Palm Block, Left Leg Back, L Stance Left Outer Forearm Waist Block.
Counter – Slide Forwards into Right L Stance Right Assisted Side Elbow Strike to the Opponents Abdomen.

 

3 Attack – Right Leg Front Snap Kick, Step forwards into Left Walking Stance High Twin Vertical Punch.
Defence – Right Leg Back, Walking Stance Low X Fist Pressing Block, Left Leg Back, Walking Stance High Outer Forearm Wedging Block.
Counter – Left Upwards Knee Strike to Solar Plexus pulling the Opponent onto the Technique.

 

4 Attack – Right Walking Stance Flat Finger Tip Thrust, Left Middle Section Side Kick.
Defence – Right Leg Back, Walking Stance Knife Hand Rising Block, Left Leg Back, L Stance Inwards Palm Block.
Counter – Left Front Snap Kick to opponents coccyx, Land in Walking Stance Twin Upset Punch to the kidneys.

 

3 Step Semi Free Sparring (Inter)

 

3 step semi free sparring is designed as an intermediate step between set sparring and free sparring. It involves three consecutive attacks and three blocks or evasions, plus a counter attack. 3 step semi free sparring should not be rushed, the secret is reaction force and quick, intelligent movements. This is where the true art of sparring is learnt.

The Attacker always starts in Right L Stance, Middle Section Forearm Guarding Block.
The Defender always starts in Parallel Ready Stance.

 

Intermediate

 

Attack – Any Three of the Following Kicks. Front Kick, Side Kick, Turning Kick, Reverse Side Kick. Kicking with the Rear Leg First, Alternating Legs.
Defence – Any Block Suitable for Each Individual Kick.
Counter – Any Hand Technique.

 

Free Sparring

 

Free sparring is basically putting waht has been learnt so far into practise. In free sparring there is no prearrangement between players, and both participants are completely free to attack and defend with all available means with one exception, the attacker must stop the attacking tool just before it reaches the target.In free sparring focused blows, speed, power, balance, and effective blocking, skilful dodging and attitude are all taken into consideration.
