Sparring

 

2 Step Sparring ( 5 – 8 )

 

2 step sparring is designed for the intermediate student to learn more advanced techniques, also using the same timing and distance as in three step sparring, but with more varied attacked, allowing the student to develop various combinations.

The Attacker always starts in Right L Stance, Forearm Guarding Block.
The Defender always starts in Parallel Ready Stance.

 

5 Attack – Right Leg Reverse Side Kick, Step Forwards into a Left Walking Stance High Obverse Palm Strike.
Defence – Right Leg Back, L Stance Palm Waist Block, Left Leg Back, L Stance Inwards Outer Forearm Block.
Counter – Slip the Right Foot into Walking Stance Middle Section Reverse Knife Hand Strike with the Left Hand.

 

6 Attack – Right Leg High Section Turning Kick, Step Forward into a Left Walking Stance Arc Hand Strike to the Opponents Throat.
Defence – Left Leg Back 45˚, Sitting Stance Twin Straight Forearm Block, Right Leg Back, L Stance Grabbing Opponents Arm Using a Palm Hooking Block.
Counter – Left Leg Side Kick Pulling Opponent onto the Kick.

 

7 Attack – Right Side Fist Strike in Fixed Stance, Left Middle Section Reverse Turning Kick, Land in L Stance Forearm Guarding Block.
Defence – Left Leg Back, L Stance Twin Forearm Block, Right Leg Back, Sliding into L Stance Forearm Guarding Block.
Counter – Right Leg High Section Reverse Turning Kick.

 

8 Attack – Right Middle Section Side Kick, Turning Anti Clockwise into a Left L Stance Spinning High Section Knife Hand Strike.
Defence – Right Leg Back, L Stance Inwards Inner Forearm Waist Block, Move Left Foot to Right, Step Back with Right Leg, L Stance Knife Hand Guarding Block.
Counter – Jump Forwards into Left X Stance High Section Back Fist Side Strike to the Opponents Temple.

 

3 Step Semi Free Sparring (Adv)

 

3 step semi free sparring is designed as an intermediate step between set sparring and free sparring. It involves three consecutive attacks and three blocks or evasions, plus a counter attack. 3 step semi free sparring should not be rushed, the secret is reaction force and quick, intelligent movements. This is where the true art of sparring is learnt.

The Attacker always starts in Right L Stance, Middle Section Forearm Guarding Block.
The Defender always starts in Parallel Ready Stance.

 

Advanced

 

Attack – Any Combination of Techniques From the Rear Hand or Foot.
Defence – Any Block Suitable for Each Individual Technique.
Counter – Any Hand or Foot Technique.

 

Free Sparring
